Which banks accept unionpay. UnionPay cards in Sberbank and other banks - features, types and correct use

Chinese national system UnionPay is increasingly being introduced into the Russian financial market... Stickers on ATMs and terminals announcing cooperation with this payment system can be seen in most stores. In addition, the Chinese have signed a number of agreements with major Russian banks, including Sberbank. What is meant by their cooperation? Can I order a UnionPay card at Sberbank or other banks? And how exactly is this plastic served? Let's figure it out.

In 2014, a long-term cooperation agreement was signed between Sberbank and UnionPay. From that moment on, the largest bank in the country was obliged to service cards of this type. But I have not yet agreed on their release.

The now closed LightBank was the first in Russia to issue cards. Almost all major players joined later banking market... Except for Sberbank, which has not yet issued UnionPay cards.

What is UnionPay in general

China UnionPay (CUP) Is a Chinese payment system. The only one considered national in the country. It has existed since 2002 and unites more than 300 credit institutions Worldwide. Since 2008 UnionPay has been cooperating with Russian banks, in particular, with Sberbank. Recently, the latter began to fully service the cards of this payment system, but has not yet decided to release his own.

In terms of market volume, this payment system is slightly ahead of Visa and MasterCard. But it should be understood that such a turnover of funds is held to some extent by the huge population of China, which almost universally uses the national plastic.

How Sberbank and UnionPay cooperate

Today, a "green" bank is obliged to service cards of the payment system and issue similar ones for Russian citizens. And Sberbank is working on this, updating ATMs to work correctly with UnionPay and actively cooperating with the system. This increases the interaction of the payment system and the largest bank in the country, as well as the presence of cards in Russia. Perhaps in the future Sberbank will start not only servicing, but also issuing UnionPay cards. But so far nothing is known about this.

It should be noted that not only Sberbank works with this system. Together with him, other major financial institutions are also involved in this, such as Gazprombank, VTB, Bank of Moscow and others.

Types of cards

Sberbank is not yet issuing UnionPay cards. This is done by other issuing banks. And this financial institution only serves those already issued. By the way, you can find not only debit cards. Some banks issue and credit products on terms convenient for you. And whether there are CUP credit cards in a particular bank, it is worth clarifying during registration. It is also necessary to inquire in advance about the cost of service and limits - some banks have the right to change them.

Russian banks have four types of UnionPay debit or credit cards:

  1. Classic... Allows you to carry out up to 20 operations per day and 50 per week and withdraw up to 100 thousand rubles per day. The maximum payment is 200 thousand at a time.
  2. Gold... The number of operations is the same as in the classic version. But you can shoot up to 150 thousand rubles. And to pay - up to 400 thousand.
  3. Platinum... The number of transactions does not change, but the maximum withdrawal and payment limits have been increased - up to 200 and 750 thousand, respectively.
  4. Diamond... Issued for RMB only. Among all the others, it is the most convenient, because it allows you to carry out 100 operations per day and 500 per week.

Important: each operation to withdraw cash from an ATM of a non-native bank will be subject to a commission of 0.5% of the amount. The minimum is 150 rubles for all types of cards, except for Diamond, for which the commission threshold is from 20 yuan. But some issuing banks may even set a commission for withdrawals from their ATMs. Therefore, you should be more careful about the conditions during registration.

Therefore, when working with UnionPay in Sberbank, you will have to pay at least 0.5% for withdrawing money. Which is not very convenient, but quite logical - after all, only the plastic of the owner of the ATM is serviced free of charge.

Advantages and disadvantages of UnionPay in the realities of Russia

It should be understood that this card is designed primarily for the Chinese market with its peculiarities, despite the fact that UnionPay operates all over the world. And although nominally about 85% of ATMs and payment terminals of the country accept it, there is a risk of not finding the right one in your city or region. It is worth paying attention to this.

The main advantage of the CUP plastic card is the ability to easily pay by bank transfer in China. Therefore, it is used mainly by those people who are actively doing business with China. Directly in Russia and in other countries, this card is not much different from the rest.

A very important nuance: it is UnionPay that can become a lifeline for Russian acquiring along with MIR, if suddenly MasterCard and Visa payment systems decide not to work with Russia anymore due to tougher sanctions.

The Chinese UnionPay card has a six-digit pin code. Therefore, its use is much safer - the code is harder to accidentally compromise. But it's also harder to remember. Released for Russian use payment system cards have a usual four-digit password. But they can also be used to pay in China - just add two zeros after the pin code when used with a terminal or ATM.

But it is worth remembering that UnionPay is not yet such a widespread system as, for example, Visa or MasterCard. Therefore, in some places there may simply not be an ATM or terminal capable of working with such plastic.

In addition, when paying for any goods in China with a ruble card, the money will be double converted - first from rubles to dollars, and then from dollars to yuan. In this way, you can lose up to 7% on the difference in exchange rates. Money... Therefore, it is better to open the card immediately in yuan if you plan to use it abroad.

And also Russian cards UnionPay has one big drawback - they cannot be replenished through ATMs. You can only withdraw money and pay with plastic. You will have to use online currency exchangers to exchange rubles for yuan and immediately credit them to the card. You can choose the most favorable currency rate if you are guided by the Bestchange online currency exchange aggregator. Or use other systems remittances that allow you to transfer money to any card.

How to use a UnionPay card in Russia

UnionPay is not the most widespread payment system in Russia. Russian banks are just beginning to conclude contracts for servicing and issuing cards for it. Therefore, there is a possibility that it will not be accepted everywhere. You can distinguish ATMs and terminals that work with the payment system by the corresponding sticker on the body with the inscription UnionPay.

Which banks serve UnionPay

Not all Russian banks are ready to cooperate with the Chinese payment system. Therefore, many ATMs and payment terminals are not suitable for the respective cards. The Chinese are actively concluding agreements with Russian financial institutions, but for now they will have to focus on UnionPay stickers.

It is known exactly that following banks issue their own UnionPay cards:

  • Gazprombank(in rubles, dollars, euros) - 1,050 rubles per year;
  • Zenith(in rubles, dollars, euros) - 6,000 rubles per year (Platinum);
  • Primsotsbank(in rubles and yuan) - 1,200 rubles per year;
  • Rosselkhozbank(in rubles, dollars, euros) - 600 rubles per year, co-branded card (MIR and UnionPay4.

And in addition to the listed banks, many others are engaged in servicing such cards. financial institutions... Let's highlight only a few, the most common and large ones:

  • Alfa Bank;
  • B&N Bank;
  • Eastern Bank;
  • Raiffeisenbank;
  • Rosbank;
  • Russian standard;
  • Uralsib;
  • Ural Bank for Reconstruction and Development.

Naturally, the lists are constantly changing and replenishing. For example, earlier Russian Standard issued UnionPay cards, but has now completed the issue.

How to get a UnionPay card

The procedure for issuing such a banking product is extremely simple. In fact, Russian citizens are not limited in their ability to receive a card from the Chinese payment system. To do this, you just need:

  1. Decide in which bank to receive the card.
  2. Take your passport and other documents if necessary.
  3. Come to the nearest branch of the selected bank.
  4. Write an application for such a card.
  5. Wait for it to be done.
  6. Look into the office again and pick up the finished card.

Many of our banks still work with Visa and MasterCard. But after all the unfriendly gestures (sanctions, refusal to serve Crimea), the situation may change. So, we already have a Chinese payment system. And now China UnionPay (CUP) cards are becoming more and more popular.

What is Union Pay card, how is it different

A card is a tool that allows you to use your account. Moreover, you open an account in a particular bank. And you don't care which payment system it works with. Previously, in Russia, these were mainly American Visa and MasterCard, now the Chinese UnionPay has been added to them.

You will not feel the difference and in the same way you will be able to pay for your purchases and services (including on the Internet), withdraw cash in about 140 countries, use a mobile and Internet bank. That is, everything is the same. Then what's the point in switching to Union Pay? And here's what:

UnionPay is independent of the US administration. Remember when Visa and MasterCard, by order from Washington, stopped serving cards of some Russian banks? And in Crimea they still do not work.

Rumor has it that all transactions of Visa and MasterCard users are being tracked by US intelligence agencies. In this situation, it is hardly possible to talk about some kind of security and safety of personal data.

For any of your transactions, the payment system receives a small percentage. Considering the number of transactions, it comes about a huge amount. So let it be better taxes go to the budget of China, and not the United States!

These systems have different base currencies. Visa has US dollar, MasterCard has dollar and euro, UnionPay has CNY... It's not that big of a deal, but is it worth supporting the dollar?

Finally, the cards of the Chinese system are well protected. For this, innovative developments in the field of security are used, as well as a long pincode.

Eurofinance Mosnarbank was the first (back in 2008) to start issuing UnionPay cards. Now they are issued in all branches.

Classic: 700 rub. per year for service, upon registration, you need to deposit 1,000 rubles;

Gold: 1 500 rub. per year, 10,000 rubles must be deposited into your account;

Platinum: 3,000 rubles. per year, 60,000 rubles must be deposited into your account.

For cash withdrawals through Eurofinance Mosnarbank ATMs, 0.3% of the amount is taken, at third-party ATMs - $ 2.5 (or the equivalent in the currency of the client's account), regardless of the amount and country where the money is withdrawn.

Gazprombank issues debit and credit cards UnionPay in the Classic, Gold and Platinum categories. You can get them in all regions of Russia. Recently, it was reported that Gazprombank began issuing bank cards in Crimea, but this still needs to be clarified.

Classic: card issue for 1 year - RUB 600, no service fee, daily limit on cash withdrawal - RUB 200,000;

Gold: issue for 1 year - 2 800 rubles. (with insurance - 3,500 rubles), no service fee;

There is no commission for withdrawing cash from Gazprombank's ATMs, 0.5% of the amount (at least 150 rubles) + commission from a third-party bank is withdrawn from "foreign" ATMs.

BaikalBank previously only served UnionPay cards, and now it has become an issuing bank. You can get a unique co-branded card of CUP and Zolotoy Korona payment systems in rubles or dollars at any office of BaikalBank (including in Crimea) in just a few minutes.

BaikalBank has perhaps the most profitable terms maintenance of microprocessor cards. But it all depends on the tariff:

“Profitable”: card issuance - 260 rubles, service - free, cash withdrawal - 0.4% of the amount;

"Ordinary": issue - free, maintenance - 300 rubles. per year, cash withdrawal - no commission.

Orient Express Bank issues Union Pay debit and credit cards. Receive Additional information it is possible in any department of the bank, by phone. 8-800-100-80-70 or on the official website.

MTS Bank has also started issuing CUP cards in all regions of Russia, where they have branches. But now they have suspended the issuance of new UnionPay cards. So follow the news on the bank's website.

Russian standard carries out the mass issue of Union Pay credit cards of the Classic type in rubles. You can repay the loan in installments or at once. In addition, you can place your own funds on the card.

The credit limit there can reach 450,000 rubles;

Rosselkhozbank signed an agreement to start issuing (issuing and servicing) CUP cards in June 2015. But there is no more detailed information about this yet.

In addition, a number of the largest banks are planning to connect to the Chinese system, and it is not excluded that they will also start issuing Union Pei cards. But Sberbank is still only considering the possibility of acquiring (organizing payments in retail outlets).

For most Russians, a bank card is Visa, MasterCard or Mir. If anyone has heard of Union Pay cards, it is most likely out of earshot. In this article, we will tell you about the Union Pay payment system and its cards, whether it is worth purchasing them and where it can be done.

About China Union Pay

China Union Pay (CUP) is the national payment system of the People's Republic of China, launched in 2002. CUP cards can be used in most countries of the world, the number of ATMs accepting them exceeds 1 million. The number of issued Union Pay cards and the volume of transactions on them are comparable to those of payment Visa systems and MasterCard. They are achieved mainly due to intra-Chinese circulation. And the expansion of the geography of services for China Union Pay is, first of all, a means of supporting and promoting Chinese business abroad.

  • In 2007, CUP cards were accepted in Russia.
  • In 2014, Russian banks began to issue them.
  • In 2016, and the Chinese CUP agreed to launch the World Union Pay project.
  • And in 2017, Rosselkhozbank began to issue them.

Why do you need Union Pay cards if you have Visa and Mastercard

In terms of their capabilities, Union Pay cards are not inferior to functionality Visa cards and Mastercard, but do not surpass it either.

A natural question arises: does it even make sense to acquire them?

There are two reasons why, in some cases, issuing a CUP card will be justified.

1. These cards are used in most countries around the world, but unlike Visa and MasterCard, CUP is not subject to US control. After the annexation of Crimea, the United States and other Western countries imposed sanctions on Russia, which also affected the financial sector. This led to disruptions in service to holders of Visa and MasterCard cards issued by some Russian banks.

As a reaction to these events, the NSPK was created in Russia, but the World maps can only be used inside Russia. CUP cards, on the one hand, are widespread in the world, and on the other hand, their use cannot be limited by the US authorities. So for those who like to travel abroad who have suffered from sanctions or are afraid of such a prospect, CUP cards are the most suitable.

2. The Chinese and Asian direction in general continues to be intensively mastered by entrepreneurs, "shuttle traders", labor migrants and tourists. For them, using CUP cards is safer and more profitable, since Union Pay is the key payment system in China. When you withdraw cash in RMB or pay for purchases in this currency, you get savings on conversions and commissions. We should not forget about Chinese online stores with their huge audience of buyers, including those from Russia.

The disadvantage of Union Pay cards is the limited use in our country.

They are not accepted for service by all ATMs and payment terminals... True, given the fact that Russia has turned to China in opposition to the United States and Europe, these opportunities will expand.

What are the CUP cards and where can they be issued

Union Pay cards come in debit, credit, and prepaid cards. Clients are offered Classic and premium cards Gold, Platinum and Diamante. The owners of the latter receive support from CUP when traveling abroad, medical assistance, concierge service, access to loyalty programs and other privileges. They are similar to those that the holders have premium cards Visa and MasterCard.

CUP cards are issued in Russia by Gazprombank, Rosselkhozbank, Primsotsbank, China Construction Bank, Credit Ural Bank and JSCB Primorye. The credit line includes Union Pay products of the Classic, Gold and Platinum categories.

Rosselkhozbank offers its clients to design a classic one, which combines the capabilities of two payment systems.

To issue or not to issue a Union Pay card is a matter of personal preference. As they say, everyone has their own taste: one loves watermelon, and the other loves pork cartilage. CUP cards are shown to individuals who are under US sanctions or are served in "sanctioned" banks, as well as to tourists and entrepreneurs in the Chinese direction. And admirers of China will be able to feel the breath of the Celestial Empire, simply by holding such a card in their hands.

In our country, many owners of plastic cards are most familiar with such world payment systems as Visa or MasterCard. These are the ones that allow you to pay for purchases and withdraw cash from ATMs in more than 200 countries around the world. But quite recently, a new Chinese payment system Unionpay appeared in Russia and several other countries. What it is and how it works on the territory of our country, we will consider further.

System logo

History of creation

The decision to create your own payment system was made the central bank People's Republic of China in 2002. Several large commercial bank China, and at first the cards were valid only in large cities of the PRC. By 2003, Unionpay cards were distributed throughout the country, and in 2006 cards under this brand already found their users outside the PRC.

In our country, the system appeared in 2013, and it was in September of that year that the system was included in the register of operators of payment systems of the Russian Federation on the initiative of the Central Bank under the name "UnionPay". By the way, in the same year, the cards of this system were already operating in 142 countries, and surpassed such systems as Visa or MasterCard in terms of the number of issued cards, namely, their number was 4 million units.

In Russia alone, according to forecasts in the next 2017, the number of cards from the Chinese payment system will reach 2 million rubles.

Distinctive features

When registering "plastic" in a bank, we rarely think about which system they belong to, because the issuing bank is engaged in servicing, and the basic conditions will depend on it. Nevertheless, in the light of recent events, or rather, relations between Russia and the United States, the cards from UnionPay have some advantages.

All Russians are aware that the United States imposed sanctions on Russia, this affected and financial relations, but both Visa and MasterCard belong to the Americans, who, in turn, refused to cooperate with some domestic banks. If the situation gets worse, then Russian banks will have no choice but to cooperate with the Chinese system. By the way, in Crimea, Visa and Mastercard cards are not served at all.

If we talk about the advantages, then they are mostly obvious only for those who often travel to China, because the native currency of UnionPei is the Chinese yuan. In addition, all Unionpay cards in Russia have lower service tariffs compared to Visa and MasterCard, and low interest when converting currency.

That is, the Union Pay payment system is actively developing in Russia, but, unfortunately, so far not all banks are working with it, for example, Sberbank of Russia has considered this issue, but has not yet made a decision.

Main problems of Unionpay

So, the main problem of the system is that so far not credit and financial organizations work with this system, and there are not so many ATMs throughout the entire territory, only 20 thousand, from which you can withdraw money. On the other hand, Unionpay has gained popularity among active Internet users, for example, those who work on the network can withdraw funds through the WebMoney electronic wallet.

Card from Lightbank

By the way, MFOs do not cooperate with Unionpay, so it will not work to take a microloan on the card.

In any case, the Unionpay payment system operates and develops in our country, although many of our compatriots are used to Visa and MasterCard. But if we consider that the PRC is increasing its position in the world ranking, and this is due to economic growth, which means that over time, the Unionpay system will grow and develop both in Russia and abroad.

Why do I need a Union Pay card at all

It's no secret that when paying bank cards abroad, you can significantly overpay for conversion, especially if your account is opened in rubles, you need to withdraw money from an ATM at national currency country (or make a purchase) where you are located, and it is different from dollars.

In this case, MasterCard or Visa is converted twice - your money into dollars, dollars - into the required currency. At every stage, you lose commission. Union Pei avoids this by performing the conversion once (in the case of yuan) - this is main reason Why UnionPay from Gazprombank is needed. In this context, it can be classified as one of the most.

But for those who do not often visit China or withdraw money in yuan, it makes sense to issue payment instruments of the usual PS. the service process has been debugged over the years, in Union Pay often fails in our country, as evidenced by user reviews.

Conclusion

According to the terms of use, the Unionpay Gazprombank card complies with international payment instruments, providing similar opportunities. Commissions, service costs and other tariffs also do not differ from the parameters inherent in Gazprombank cards of other PS. Suitable for those who often visit China, withdraw money from an ATM in RMB or pay with them.
