The only question that remains when we look at such a device for lifting the saw mechanism is: what are the chains made of? If these are motorcycle chains, like at the Taiga sawmill, then it is clear that they will not last long.

Maximum log diameter and band saw parameters:

The Kedr sawmill, according to the manufacturer, is capable of sawing logs of fantastic sizes - up to 1100 mm thick. Such miracles, it turns out, are possible with saws 32-40 mm wide. and with a saw pitch of 22 mm (and in Europe and the USA such logs are sawn on machines with 100 mm saws, is it strange, isn't it?) 50 mm. and 25 mm. respectively. At the same time, High Point 42 saws logs of much more modest dimensions - up to 720 mm. thick.

Another strange moment: why the Taiga sawmill cuts 800 mm. saws 4.29 m long, in “Kedra” it is enough for logs that are almost one and a half times thicker, saws 4.026 m long? Interestingly, different sawmills cut the same logs with different saws. The question arises: which of them, let's say, is cunning, wishful thinking?

Dear timber processors, how many of you are consistently sawing logs with a thickness of more than 700 mm. using 35-40 mm band saws with a saw tooth pitch of 22 mm.? We would love to watch a video where a thick gauge is harvested under similar conditions or look at the results of a workpiece in one shift: is there a stable quality?

Pulleys:

Finally, our eyes see the difference between "Taiga" and "Cedar". On the sawmill "KEDR-2" sheet pulleys are used, and not cast steel, which are installed on the "Taiga". The quality of pulleys cut from a sheet of metal is higher, which is why given type pulley is actively used by European manufacturers of band sawmills. But from the photo it is not clear to us whether these pulleys are balanced.

Tension unit device:

There are several ways to manufacture a band sawmill tension unit: hydraulic, using springs, spring tension, rigid tension unit. The manufacturer of the sawmill "KEDR-2" uses a hard tension, which does not have the best effect on the service life of the band saw.

The band saw setup sequence is reliable and not very complicated, although it does require some skill. Setup consists of the following four main steps:

Stage 1. Aligning the pulleys of the band sawmill in the same plane vertically

Band sawmill - malfunctions and their overcoming

Guide rollers do not rotate when sawing:
jammed bearings;

rollers are incorrectly adjusted.
The cross section of the board has an irregular shape (the corners are not straight):
the saw blade is not parallel to the guide frame (support arch) - adjust the parallelism of the support arch;
stop on the clamp is set incorrectly - adjust the stop on the angle.

Braking and stopping the saw:
the geometry of the saw does not correspond to the structure of the sawn wood - sharpen the saw according to the requirements;
dirty log - clean the log from dirt;
extreme tension - loosen the tension;

guide rollers incorrectly set - adjust the position of the rollers;

Saw overheating:
